Villa Poggiano Montepulciano
Nestling in 6 hectares of parkland, Villa Poggiano enjoys a splendidly panoramic position on hillside overlooking Tuscany's Val d'Orcia, just 2 kilometers away from the beautiful medieval town of Montepulciano.
The villa dates back to the 1700's, when it was built as the elegant summer residence for members of the aristocratic Poliziana Gagnoni dynasty. Over the centuries, and with almost every new proprietor, small alterations were made to the edifice. The most recent major rebuilding work dates back to the early 20th century when the property was purchased by the Helmke family. The Helmkes, of German origin, commissioned the construction of Villa Poggiano's travertine marble swimming pool, complete with statues and fountains; a magnificent neo-classical structure the inspiration for which was, without doubt, Enrico del Debbio's "Stadio dei Marmi" in Rome. The Helmke family sold the villa in 1950 and the building changed hands on numerous occasions before being purchased by the Savini family, in the year 2000.
Under the current ownership, Villa Poggiano has been the subject of extensive restoration work which has resulted in the Tuscan country residence's transformation in luxury guest accommodation. Villa Poggiano has bedrooms and suites. All accommodations are equipped with every modern comfort, including direct internet access, and furnished with beautiful pieces of antique furniture and delightful period paintings. Large windows afford enchanting views of the Italian garden and swimming pool. The suites located in the gardens of the Villa Poggiano overlook a typically Tuscan landscape of cornfields, vineyards and century old olive groves.
