Villa Cicolina Montepulciano

Villa Cicolina enjoys a fabulous countryside location just moments away from the medieval hilltop town of Montepulciano. What was originally an impressive farmstead was successively altered before being converted in elegant country abode for members of Tuscany's aristocracy. In recent years Villa Cicolina has been transformed in a charming countryside hotel, adorned with many of the original decorative features of the former patrician residence, including marvellous frescoes depicting Tuscan landscapes, and valuable period paintings and furniture.

Guests sojourn in bedrooms decorated with ornate 16th century capitals, beautiful Italian textiles and unique items of antique furniture. From the windows delightful views of the gardens and the surrounding Tuscan countryside can be admired.

In the grounds of the villa a traditional Italian garden, complete with ornate rose beds and fountain in travertine marble, provides a delightful secluded place where to read or simply relax. Amidst the olive trees one finds an attractive outdoor swimming pool, and solarium where to enjoy the Tuscan sun.

Beneath Villa Cicolina there is a fascinating historic cellar linked to a series of XII century tunnels which some consider to be of much earlier Etruscan origin. Guests should not miss the opportunity to visit the old barrel vaulted caverns still housing a number of ancient casks in which the great Nobile di Montepulciano wine was stored.
