Villa Arcaia Castiglione del Lago

Located in the stunning Umbrian countryside which borders Tuscany, Villa Arcaia is a fabulous country residence surrounded by some 26000 m² of land, about 9000 m² of which is taken up by the formal gardens and terracing. All the rest is cultivated land used for olive groves and fields where to grow fodder for animals.

The main house, "Bellosguardo", is a typical 19th century turreted country house. In the 1960's it underwent a radical restyling, when the then owner, an eccentric actress, turned it into an exclusive venue for parties and receptions. The recent restoration and renovation work has deliberately conserved her eclectic style, with collectors' items of Italian design mingling with antique furniture, large fireplaces and carved wood panelling.

The spacious accommodation on the ground floor features an elegant living room, dining room, comfortable and well equipped kitchen and a cloakroom. Rooms open out onto a vast panoramic terrace. An elegant staircase leads up from the entrance to the first floor where there are two luxurious suites and a bathroom which is truly remarkable for size and décor.

Close by one finds the former outbuildings, "I buccheri", which have been transformed in attractive guest accommodation. A large patio gives access to the ground floor, with comfortable living quarters and a fully equipped kitchen. All the rooms are classically Tuscan in style, with tiled ceilings and exposed wooden beams, each adorned with country style furniture made by local artisans.

Inviting pathways lead guests through the gardens to the adults' swimming pool and the adjacent pool for children. The area around the swimming pool and the terrace-solarium are furnished with deckchairs, sun loungers, sun umbrellas, tables and chairs.
