Palazzo Belledonne

Palazzo Belledonne Firenze

Palazzo Belledonne dates back to the early 1300's, built at a time when Florence was beginning to expand beyond the boundaries of the ancient roman city. The Palazzo was commissioned by Messer Lapo of the prosperous Aldobrandini family. Via delle Belledonne constituted an important thoroughfare connecting the Mercato Vecchio and Via Strozzi, to the northward facing city door of Porta del Trebbio and the Aldobrandinis, who had made their fortune thanks to the lucrative medieval spice trade, chose the site for its strategic position along what was then the main commercial artery leading out of the city.
Some 500 years later, in the Nineteenth century, the palazzo accommodated a number of workshops used by both local and international artists including that of the celebrated painter Ingres.

The apartments are elegantly furnished and decorated with trompe l'oeils, frescos and original paintings. High standards of comfort are guaranteed with the addition of air-conditioning, telephone, and television. Kitchens are equipped with all the necessary appliances including a washing-machine and dishwashers.
