Hotel Palazzo del Capitano Wellness & Relais San Quirico d'Orcia

Hotel Palazzo del Capitano Wellness & Relais occupies one of the oldest buildings in the Tuscan town of San Quirico d'Orcia. The edifice was built in the 1400's as residence of the influential Biringucci family, whose family crest still adorns the main facade of the building. The Palazzo del Capitano has been the subject of a meticulous restoration project which has brought to light the original beauty of the architectural features and resulted in the building's transformation in a small luxury hotel.

The hotel has a total of just 16 bedrooms. The rooms and suites, each with a name of a different zodiac sign, are furnished with authentic pieces of period furniture and sumptuous bed linen and window drapes. Original exposed wooden beam ceilings and terracotta floors only add to the appeal of this delightful Tuscan retreat.

A recent addition to the hotel, the Palazzo del Capitano's 5 Wellness Suites have been inspired by contemporary spa philosophies so as to offer a truly relaxing environment where to enjoy the use of an in-room Jacuzzi and chromotherapy bath.

Chromotherapy is also available at Palazzo del Capitano's "Grotta di Venere" wellness centre, the ideal place where to indulge in a series of professionally performed face and body treatments. A superb range of skin products are available for purchase in the hotel's boutique.

In rooms which once served as stables, a superb restaurant with bar has been created, featuring large vaulted ceilings and enormous open fireplace. The finest Tuscan fare, using only the freshest locally sourced ingredients, is served in the charming dining room or, in warm weather, in the hotel garden under the shade of the olive trees.

The ancient cellar, discovered during the recent restoration work, houses the Palazzo del Capitano's impressive selection of Tuscan wines which includes vintages from the most prestigious producers of Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti Classico and the local Orcia D.O.C..
