Hotel Danieli Venezia

The Hotel Danieli, situated on Venice's Grand Canal, occupies a palazzo originally built for the family of the Doge Dandolo in the late 1300's. This masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture began its transformation in hotel in 1822, when Giuseppe dal Niel, in response to the growing demand for accommodation in the city, rented a floor of the historic building and converted it in luxurious guest house. Such was the success of his venture that just 18 years later, Dal Niel was able to purchase the entire palace to which he awarded the name "Royal Hotel Danieli".

Today, a total of 233 guest bedrooms and suites are distributed in the main body of the hotel, and two annexes in an adjoining 19th century palazzo and recently built edifice linked to the older building by bridges over the small canals. The rooms all feature the most sumptuous Venetian décor with delicately woven carpets, Murano glass chandeliers, immense gilt framed antique mirrors and hand painted period furniture.

Guests arriving at the hotel are greeted by a magnificent display of old world opulence. The reception is located in a four storey high atrium with fabulous Venetian floor tiles in stucco and marble and truly spectacular original stone staircase winding up to a ceiling of stained glass.

The hotel's sumptuous public rooms with frescoed ceilings, marble floors and pillars, are adorned with huge Murano glass chandeliers, precious antiques and divans upholstered in the finest silks and damasks.
The elegant top floor Terrazza Danieli Restaurant serves excellent Mediterranean and Venetian cuisine and affords breathtaking views of the lagoon and the Adriatic sea.
The Hotel Danieli is perfectly situated for those wishing to visit the main sites and museums of Venice, almost all of which are within easy walking distance of the property. During the summer season, a private boat service transports guests to the Venice Lido where to enjoy the beach facilities, swimming pools, tennis and golf of the Danieli's sister hotels, the Westin Excelsior and the Hotel des Bains.
