Grand Hotel De La Minerve Roma

The Grand Hotel De La Minerve occupies an ancient 17th century palace in the heart of the historic center of Rome. The palace was built in 1620 as sumptuous city abode for members of Rome's powerful Fonseca family.

In the decades following it's conversion in hotel, in the late 1700's, the Grand Hotel De La Minerve became the favored Roman residence of Europe's travelling aristocratic classes, distinguished intellectuals, and numerous artists enamoured by its luxuriously appointed public rooms and suites and the close proximity to the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Italian houses of Parliament.

A winter garden, built in the inner courtyard of the hotel, was a delightful late 19th century addition to the building, and now constitutes the main hall of the Grand Hotel De La Minerve. Beneath the exquisite glass roof one finds Rinaldo Rinaldi's legendary marble statue of the pagan Goddess Minerva. Other masterpieces by the 19th century Italian sculptor are located in the hotel's Salone Olimpo.
