Castello di Vicarello Poggi del Sasso - Cinigiano

In the heart of the Tuscan countryside amid olive groves and vineyards, rises the 12th century fortified building, Castello Vicarello. This magnificent medieval castle, just 40km from Siena and a mere 20kms from the Tuscan coast, has been masterly restored and transformed in luxurious guest accommodation.

Castello Vicarello has a total of 6 suites, 2 of which are located in a separate building and can be rented together so as to form a private villa. The rooms, all with spacious bathrooms, are decorated with antique furniture and fascinating artefacts of both Tuscan and eastern origin and afford fabulous views over the surrounding countryside.

The area surrounding the Castello Vicarello was an integral part of the restoration project. The Castle is immersed in beautiful gardens scented with the perfume of rose, lavender and mulberry which make way to an extensive olive grove, vineyards and woodland.

Those wishing to dine at the Castle are treated to the finest Tuscan dishes of the local tradition, prepared using produce of the kitchen garden and accompanied by the wines of the region. Meals are served in the elegant dining room featuring an immense open fireplace or, in warm weather, in the gardens of the Castello. Guests should not miss the opportunity to savor the Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil and Castello di Vicarello organic wine, produced on the estate. On request, cooking lessons and wine tastings are held in the Castle.

The Castello Vicarello provides the perfect countryside retreat for those wishing to relax or partake in any number of outdoor leisure activities. In the immediate vicinity there are numerous trekking and horse riding routes, whilst a Golf course is within easy driving distance. Hunting is available on request and according to the season. Two stunningly panoramic swimming pools are situated in the gardens.
